Develop skills in installing, maintaining and repairing metal roof and wall cladding, flashings, gutters, downpipes and other rainwater products for residential, industrial and commercial buildings. This qualification combines common plumbing industry skills with specialist roof plumbing training.
Occupational title: Roof plumber.
Licensing, legislative, regulatory and certification requirements vary between states and territories. Consult the relevant regulatory authority about requirements for the work you intend to undertake. Completing this qualification does not automatically grant a licence.
Students must complete CPCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry before any construction site visits.
Entry Requirements
- Minimum age of 18 years.
- Satisfactory completion of Year 10 or higher.
- English language requirements
Provide evidence of one of the following English language test results:

Results older than two years are not accepted for offshore applicants.
Alternatively, provide evidence of:

- Within two years of the application date, successful completion in Australia of a foundation course or senior secondary certificate of education, or substantial components (50% or more units) of an Australian Qualifications Framework Certificate IV or higher qualification while on a student visa.

Onshore and Offshore International Students
- All international students must complete a Pre-Training Review, including a Language, Literacy, Numeracy and Digital Literacy (LLND) assessment. This identifies training needs, previous education, relevant experience and course suitability. The review may be conducted by video or phone call.
Other Conditions:
- Allow approximately 4 hours per week for self-directed learning and assessments during training weeks, excluding term breaks.
- Use personal protective equipment (PPE) appropriate to each practical activity, including eye and hearing protection, suitable gloves, safety boots, high-visibility clothing, head protection and protective clothing. Respiratory protection, sun protection and fall-arrest equipment are used where required for the activity.

Applicable unit prerequisites must be met as part of the training and assessment sequence.
Delivery Mode and Assessment
The course uses a classroom blended delivery model, combining face-to-face classroom sessions, guided learning, theory assessments completed at home and practical training in a simulated workplace environment.
Assessment includes knowledge tests and practical demonstrations, simulations or role plays, as required by each unit. Summative theory assessment is completed outside the classroom. Practical assessment takes place in classroom and simulated environments suited to the unit requirements.
The qualification is awarded only when all required units have been successfully completed. Course completion is not guaranteed.

Recognition of Prior Learning
Students may apply for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) based on relevant formal study, non-formal training and skills developed through work or other experience. Evidence is assessed against the requirements of the relevant units.

About this qualification
CPC32620 Certificate III in Roof Plumbing is suitable for international students aged 18 years or older who want to develop skills in roof plumbing and can attend regular face-to-face classes in Melbourne or Sydney.
Training covers reading plans, preparing drawings, measuring and marking out materials, cutting and joining sheet metal, installing roof sheeting and wall cladding, and fabricating roof drainage systems and flashings.
Students also study safe work practices for roofs, heights and access equipment.
